"Well Red," a sculpture by artist Douwe Blumberg of a studious-looking UW-Madison mascot Bucky Badger, is decorated with a Wisconsin School of Business graduation cap as he looks out on the Aurora borealis – commonly called the Northern Lights – as they grace the night sky above Lake Mendota along the University of Wisconsin–Madison shoreline on May 10, 2024, the night before commencement. The bright dancing lights of the aurora are collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth's atmosphere.
